Dereham 5K Cancelled
Following discussion with Todd Lake (race Director of the 5km race) earlier this week, and owing to the situation regarding COVID19/Coronavirus, together with the uncertainty of how the further easing of lockdown may happen, the decision that the 5km road race will be cancelled for this year has been made..
Obviously it is a difficult decision to take, but uncertainty, together with peoples safety, is paramount in making the decision.
I am now in the stage of talking to Norfolk Road Running Committee, also Neil Featherby at Sportlink (as it was scheduled as a Grand Prix event) to advise them of this decision. Jon Beverly (Total Race Timing) is also being informed so we can arrange for refunds/transfers to those who have entered.
We will be though be looking into the possibility of holding a ‘virtual’ 5km event on the day the original race would have been held (23 August 2020), details of which will be released as and when confirmed.
I acknowledge that this is difficult decision to make but hopefully we can look forward to holding the event again in 2021.
