Ryston Cross Country 12th December 2021

Another good morning in the woods at Shouldham Warren, for the 3rd leg of the Ryston Cross Country Grand Prix. The team all put in some great performances many winning points for the Club in the visitors trophy and a few took home some medals for their efforts, these were Tobias Cheesbrough who finished 2nd in the U15 race, Jacob Last also came 2nd in his U17 race, Elizabeth Daley (1st) keeping up her impressive Ryston medal haul, and a 3rd place finish for Neville Knights. Those just missing out on a top 3 finish, all crossing the line in 4th place were Dawn Protheroe, Deborah Last, Neil Anderson and Issac Brown. Junior Stanley Underwood had his first taste of cross country joining fellow U11s Issac B and Issac Fletcher who both started their Ryston experience last month along with Sophie Fletcher (future DRAC junior) running her 2nd race in the U9s event.

But it's not all about winning your race or getting points for the team but if you do it's a brilliant achievement, it's good just to sometimes get out and represent your club and wear your colours with pride. Sometimes DRAC members mid-race do something good for other fellow runners. A lady from Ryston took a nasty fall way back at the start off the finishing straight and was helped all the way back to the finish line by Carole Preston, Sadly I believe an ambulance was called for her later.
