Parkrun 1st February 2020

With many fine Running clubs and a great variety of quality races which are staged for every distance including The Round Norfolk Relay, The Peddars Way Ultra,  The City of Norwich Half (now in its 32nd year), The Dereham ‘10’ and town centre races at King’s Lynn and Dereham. There is also an excellent Cross Country series staged by Ryston Runners at Shouldham Warren.

In addition we have sixteen parkruns (soon to be seventeen with Great Yarmouth starting).

Each Norfolk parkrun has its own character.

The great Norfolk estates of Blickling, Holkham and Sheringham offer beautiful sweeping parkland to run.

The formal parks at Eaton in Norwich and The Walks in King’s Lynn make good for fast times.

There is Norwich’s secret park, Catton hidden just beyond the Ring Road.

Where could you find a more English setting for a parkrun then the village common at Mulbarton with its duck ponds and cricket green surrounded by the Parish Church and Pub.

A coastal parkrun is provided at Gorleston Cliffs where on a winter’s morning you may see the sun rise due east out at sea.

And finally there is a real ‘Runners’ parkrun at Colney Lane with a mixture of a woodland hill trial and a sprint across the playing field turf it will test the abilities of all.

We are indeed lucky to live in Norfolk but it is a pity there are only three floodlit eight lane running tracks.  (Lynn Sport, UEA sports park and Welesley Road, Great Yarmouth).
